// DIY & No-Code Stack
DIY & No-Code Stack
The no-code stack for pre-launch and small coworking operators: 12 tools to run a space before graduating to a dedicated coworking platform.
(Stripe is cross-listed; its full vendor detail lives in CAT-13.)
Category note: This page is for pre-launch and small operators — roughly under 30-50 members — running the space on general-purpose no-code tools instead of a dedicated coworking platform. It's a documented industry pattern, not a hack: coworking-specific Notion operations templates are sold commercially, and Jotform ships a ready-made coworking space management app template. The canonical recipes: an Airtable member database (doubling as CRM and inventory), Tally or Typeform intake forms feeding it, Calendly for tour bookings (or the booking features built into Google Workspace and Microsoft 365), Stripe Payment Links and Billing for recurring membership charges without any platform at all (see CAT-13), a Notion ops manual for SOPs and team knowledge, and — when members need something to log into — Softr or Glide turning the Airtable base into a member portal or app. Glue between the pieces is Zapier or Make (CAT-22). The honest graduation guidance: billing automation is what breaks first. Manual invoicing, proration, failed-payment chasing and booking-credit tracking consume the time the stack was meant to save, and when bookings, billing and door access need to talk to each other, it's time for a coworking platform (CAT-11). The DIY stack's real virtue is that everything in it exports cleanly when that day comes. These tools live on this page only — other categories point here rather than re-listing them.
Vendors
Flexible databases & docs
| Vendor | Origin | Markets Served | Segment | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Notion | United States (San Francisco) | Global | SMB | The ops-manual and member-wiki layer: SOPs, onboarding, team knowledge, light databases. Coworking-specific Notion templates are sold commercially. |
| Airtable | United States (San Francisco) | Global | SMB-Mid | The DIY backbone: member database, lead tracker, inventory — a relational database with spreadsheet ease. Interfaces adds app-like views. |
| Coda | United States (San Francisco) | Global | SMB | Docs-plus-database hybrid, the power-user alternative to Notion; only "Doc Makers" pay, editors are free — a quirk that suits small teams. |
Portal & app builders
| Vendor | Origin | Markets Served | Segment | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Softr | Germany (Berlin) | Global | SMB | Turns an Airtable base or Google Sheet into a polished member portal with logins — the closest DIY gets to a coworking OS front-end. Priced by app users, so cost scales with membership. |
| Glide | United States (San Francisco) | Global | SMB | Mobile-first apps from spreadsheets or Airtable; the pick when members live on phones. Per-user and per-update pricing escalates with scale. |
Forms & intake
| Vendor | Origin | Markets Served | Segment | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tally | Belgium (Ghent) | Global | SMB | The bootstrap favorite: genuinely generous free tier (unlimited forms and responses) for tour requests and member intake. |
| Typeform | Spain (Barcelona) | Global | SMB-Mid | The polished, conversational alternative; native Calendly and CRM hooks. Free tier is tightly capped, so real use means paying. |
| Jotform | United States (San Francisco) | Global | SMB | Forms plus a no-code app builder — ships an actual coworking space management app template (spaces, bookings, member list, requests). |
Scheduling, suites & billing
| Vendor | Origin | Markets Served | Segment | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calendly | United States (Atlanta) | Global | SMB-Mid | Tour booking — the single most common DIY use case. Free single event type; open-source alternative Cal.com for the self-host inclined. |
| Google Workspace | United States | Global | All | The true day-zero stack: Sheets, Forms, Gmail, and Calendar's built-in appointment scheduling. The no-code ecosystem is Google-first, so everything here connects to it. |
| Microsoft 365 | United States | Global | All | The niche alternative: Microsoft Bookings is built into business plans and some operators run on it — but it doesn't integrate as easily into a no-code coworking stack as Google. |
| Stripe (cross-listed) | United States / Ireland | Global | SMB-Enterprise | Payment Links, Invoicing and Stripe Billing give recurring membership billing with no platform at all — the most common early billing mechanism. Full detail in CAT-13. |
Vendor Detail
Notion
- Origin: United States (San Francisco)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: The knowledge layer of the DIY stack: operations manual, SOPs, onboarding checklists, member handbook, and light databases in one workspace. Its docs-plus-databases model and huge template community make it the fastest way to document how the space runs — and coworking-specific operations templates (e.g. the "Notion for Coworking" handbook) are sold commercially, evidence of real operator adoption. Databases are lighter-duty than Airtable's; most stacks pair the two.
- Website: notion.com
- Pricing model: Free for individuals; Plus ~$10-12/seat/mo; Business ~$18-24/seat/mo (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Zapier/Make; Slack; Google Drive; API; template marketplace.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 2 Type II; GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Airtable
- Origin: United States (San Francisco)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB-Mid
- Notes: The backbone of most DIY coworking stacks: a relational database with spreadsheet ease that becomes the member database, lead tracker, meeting-room log, and inventory list. Views (grid, kanban, calendar) and Interfaces (app-like dashboards, included on all plans) cover most internal needs; forms feed it directly; Softr or Glide turn it member-facing. Open-source alternatives Baserow and NocoDB exist for self-hosters. The record caps are the practical ceiling — the free tier's 1,000 records per base arrives faster than expected.
- Website: airtable.com
- Pricing model: Free (5 editors, 1,000 records/base); Team $20/seat/mo; Business $45/seat/mo (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Softr, Glide, Zapier/Make, Tally/Typeform/Jotform, Slack; API; automations built in.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Coda
- Origin: United States (San Francisco)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: The docs-plus-database hybrid for power users — deeper formulas, buttons and automations than Notion, in a document surface friendlier than Airtable. Its pricing quirk suits small teams unusually well: only "Doc Makers" (people who create docs) pay; everyone else edits free, so a two-founder space pays for two seats regardless of team size. Acquired by Grammarly (2024) but continues as a standalone product.
- Website: coda.io
- Pricing model: Free; Pro ~$10/Doc Maker/mo; Team ~$30/Doc Maker/mo (annual billing); editors free on all plans.
- Key integrations: Packs (Google Calendar, Slack, Jira, Stripe); Zapier; API.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 2 Type II; GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Softr
- Origin: Germany (Berlin)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: The member-portal play: assembles a polished web portal — logins, gated pages, directories, forms, payments — on top of an Airtable base, Google Sheet, or its own database, from pre-built blocks. This is the closest a DIY stack gets to a coworking OS front-end: members log in, see their own records, book, and pay. Key cost caveat for coworking: Softr bills by app users (collaborators are unlimited), and every member with a login is an app user — so portal cost scales with membership, which is often the economic trigger for graduating to CAT-11.
- Website: softr.io
- Pricing model: Free plan; paid from ~$49/mo (Basic) to ~$249+/mo per workspace, priced by app-user count (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Airtable, Google Sheets, own database; Stripe (payments in portals); Zapier/Make; SSO on higher tiers.
- Compliance / certs: GDPR (EU/Germany); SOC 2 (current scope unconfirmed).
- Research status: Researched
Glide
- Origin: United States (San Francisco)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: Turns spreadsheets or Airtable into native-feeling mobile apps — the pick when the member experience should live on a phone (check-ins, bookings, community directory). Fast to build and genuinely free to prototype. Cost caveats: production publishing requires a paid plan, pricing is per-user plus per-update (data syncs count), and costs escalate with member count and sync frequency — reviewers consistently flag it as economical for small teams and expensive at scale. Airtable/SQL connections sit on higher tiers.
- Website: glideapps.com
- Pricing model: Free to build; Maker ~$25/mo; Business ~$199/mo (30 users, update quotas; annual billing); extra users/updates billed on top.
- Key integrations: Google Sheets, Glide Tables, Airtable (higher tiers), Excel; Zapier; webhooks.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 2 (unconfirmed); GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Tally
- Origin: Belgium (Ghent)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: The bootstrap-favorite form builder: unlimited forms and unlimited responses on the free tier — the most generous in the category — with a Notion-like editing experience. The standard DIY intake layer: tour requests, member applications, event RSVPs, feedback, all piped into Airtable or Notion. Pro adds custom domains, remove-branding, and team features.
- Website: tally.so
- Pricing model: Free (unlimited forms and responses); Pro ~$29/mo per workspace (current rate unconfirmed).
- Key integrations: Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets (native syncs); Zapier/Make; webhooks; Stripe payments in forms.
- Compliance / certs: GDPR (EU-based, EU hosting).
- Research status: Researched
Typeform
- Origin: Spain (Barcelona)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB-Mid
- Notes: The polished, conversational form experience — one question at a time, strong completion rates — used where the form is the first brand impression (tour requests, membership applications). Native Calendly hook lets a completed form flow straight into a booked tour; Salesforce/HubSpot connectors feed CRMs (CAT-12). The trade: the free tier is tightly capped (about 10 responses/month), so real usage means a paid plan, and it's the pricier option next to Tally.
- Website: typeform.com
- Pricing model: Free (very limited); paid from ~$25-29/mo (Basic) to ~$99/mo (Business), response-capped tiers (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Calendly (native scheduling embed), HubSpot, Salesforce, Airtable, Zapier; Google Analytics/Meta pixels.
- Compliance / certs: GDPR (EU); SOC 2 (unconfirmed).
- Research status: Researched
Jotform
- Origin: United States (San Francisco)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB
- Notes: Forms plus a drag-and-drop no-code app builder — and the only vendor here shipping an actual coworking template: the Jotform Coworking Space Management App (browse spaces, submit reservation requests, member list, operational requests in one app-style interface). A credible single-tool DIY route for very small spaces: forms, tables, approvals and a lightweight member-facing app under one roof. Payment collection (Stripe, PayPal, Square) built into forms.
- Website: jotform.com
- Pricing model: Free (5 forms, ~100 submissions/mo); paid tiers from ~$34/mo (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Stripe/PayPal/Square in-form payments; Google Sheets; Zapier; Jotform Tables/Apps/Approvals.
- Compliance / certs: GDPR; SOC 2; HIPAA-ready plans (healthcare tier).
- Research status: Researched
Calendly
- Origin: United States (Atlanta)
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: SMB-Mid
- Notes: Tour scheduling is the single most common DIY coworking use case, and Calendly is its default tool: share a link, prospects pick a slot, both calendars update, video link auto-attached. The free plan's one-active-event-type limit actually fits a space that only books tours; multiple event types (tours, viewings, meeting-room slots) need Standard. Embeds in Typeform and websites. Open-source alternative: Cal.com, for operators who want self-hosting or API-first scheduling.
- Website: calendly.com
- Pricing model: Free (1 active event type, 1 calendar); Standard ~$10-12/seat/mo; Teams ~$16-20/seat/mo (annual billing).
- Key integrations: Google/Outlook/iCloud calendars; Zoom/Meet/Teams; Typeform embed; Stripe/PayPal payment collection on paid tiers; Zapier.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 2 Type II; GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Google Workspace
- Origin: United States
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: All
- Notes: The true day-zero stack — nearly every operator starts here whether they plan to or not: Sheets as the first member list and billing tracker, Forms for intake, Gmail on the space's domain, Drive for documents, and Google Calendar's built-in appointment scheduling for tours (a free-tier answer to Calendly). Its deeper DIY value is ecosystem gravity: the no-code world is Google-first, so Tally, Softr, Glide, Zapier and the coworking platforms in CAT-11 all connect to it natively — which makes eventual graduation clean.
- Website: workspace.google.com
- Pricing model: Business Starter ~$7/user/mo; Business Standard ~$14/user/mo (annual billing; regional pricing varies).
- Key integrations: Effectively everything in this category; appointment scheduling in Calendar; AppSheet (Google's own no-code app builder) included on some tiers.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
Microsoft 365
- Origin: United States
- Markets served: Global
- Segment: All
- Notes: The niche DIY option — some operators run on it, typically those from corporate backgrounds already living in Outlook and Teams. Microsoft Bookings, included in the business plans, handles tour and room scheduling out of the box, and Lists/SharePoint can stand in for light databases. The honest caveat: it doesn't integrate as easily into a no-code coworking stack as Google — the form/portal/automation ecosystem (Tally, Softr, Glide) is Google-first, and Power Automate is heavier lifting than Zapier for non-technical operators. Workable as a suite; harder as a hub.
- Website: microsoft.com/microsoft-365
- Pricing model: Business Basic ~$6/user/mo; Business Standard ~$12.50/user/mo (annual billing; includes Bookings).
- Key integrations: Microsoft Bookings, Lists, SharePoint, Power Automate/Power Apps; Teams; narrower native support across the no-code ecosystem than Google.
- Compliance / certs: SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, GDPR.
- Research status: Researched
