The Coworking Institute is the professional education and accreditation body for the coworking and flexible-workspace industry. Headquartered in Singapore and working in partnership with GCUC, it trains operators, executives and the businesses entering the sector, from first-time founders to senior leaders. It was co-founded by industry veterans Liz Elam and Jonathan O'Byrne.

Short biography
Liz Elam founded GCUC, the world's largest coworking conference, in 2011. It has since held more than 50 conferences across six continents. She founded Link Coworking in Austin in 2010 and sold it in 2019, becoming the first woman to successfully exit a coworking brand.

Jonathan O'Byrne is the author of Coworking Inc. (2020) and After Coworking (2025). In 2012 he founded Collective Works, one of Singapore's first premium coworking operators, which formed a joint venture with CapitaLand in 2016 and was acquired in 2018 by The Work Project, a CapitaLand joint venture. He later led partnership and franchise growth across Asia Pacific for IWG.

The Coworking Institute is the professional education and accreditation body for the coworking and flexible-workspace industry. It provides live education, the Coworking Wiki, open resources and professional membership.
It serves coworking operators, executives and businesses entering the sector. Its programmes range from first-time founder education to advanced study for experienced operators and senior leaders.
The CMBA is the Institute's only credential. It is awarded through the Coworking MBA on ten portfolio artefacts and a defended capstone, as evidence of practice rather than attendance.
The Coworking Institute works in partnership with GCUC. GCUC founder Liz Elam co-founded the Institute with Jonathan O'Byrne.
AI for Leaders runs from 20 October 2026 to 21 January 2027. Coworking MBA Cohort One starts 18 January 2027. Coworking Foundation cohorts run in February, May, August and November 2027, with exact dates set after each cohort is grouped by time zone.
The Coworking Institute is headquartered in Singapore. Its online programmes serve an international operator community.
